On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 11:00 to 17:00, the 4th WeOpenGov Forum took place at the “Antonis Tritsis” Amphitheatre of the Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Athens, under the theme: “Open Governance: Collaboration for Participation, Accessibility, Transparency”.

The event was organized within the framework of the OGP Local Athens initiative, under the auspices of the Municipality of Athens and the European Digital Governance Innovation Hub, GR digiGOV-innoHUB.

Athens actively participates in the global Open Government Partnership (OGP) initiative, with the Mayor of Athens co-signing the Vitoria-Gasteiz Declaration, adopted ahead of the upcoming OGP Global Summit to be held in Vitoria-Gasteiz on October 6–10, 2025.

Athens, July 30, 2025 — The Municipal Council of the City of Athens has approved the city’s first Action Plan and Strategic Vision for participation in the global Open Government Partnership Local (OGP Local) initiative. With this milestone decision, Athens becomes the first and only municipality in Greece to actively embrace the principles of open government at the local level — fostering transparency, accountability, and meaningful citizen participation in the design and delivery of public policies.
