OGP Local Athens

As part of the City of Athens’ commitment to an Open Participatory Housing Matching Platform under OGP Local, the Municipality is organizing a workshop on Friday, 22 May 2026, focusing on the exploration of the main operational parameters of a municipal mechanism that would connect housing demand with available housing supply.

Workshop on Open Participatory Housing Matching PlatformThe workshop will take place at the City of Athens Meeting Room (Patision 159), in the context of OpenGov Week (18–22 May), and forms part of the Municipality’s broader efforts to promote more open, participatory, and effective housing-related policies.

The aim of the meeting is to contribute to the development of an initial framework of operational options for the mechanism under consideration, with particular emphasis on:

  • criteria related to housing demand,
  • criteria for the suitability and admission of housing units,
  • the logic of matching between demand and supply,
  • and the practical mediation role that the Municipality could assume.

The workshop is being prepared on the basis of work already carried out within the Municipality, as well as dialogue with organisations and stakeholders with relevant experience in the field of housing. At the same time, relevant European practices are also being taken into account, so that the discussion can build on as concrete and substantive a basis as possible.

Further details regarding the programme and structure of the workshop will be shared soon.
